How to measure your finger for a ring
How to measure your ring finger (even without a sizer)
Buying a ring online can be a magical experience, especially when it's a unique, handcrafted piece designed just for you. But there's always one question that comes naturally before finalizing your order: "What size do I wear?"
If you don't have a ring sizer at home, don't worry: there are several simple and reliable methods to find your size in just a few minutes.
📏 Method 1: String or paper strip
You will need:
– A thin thread, string, or strip of paper (not elastic)
– A ruler
– A pen
How to do:
- Gently wrap the thread or strip around the base of your finger (neither too tight nor too loose).
- Mark the point where the paper or thread overlaps.
- Measure the length from the starting point to the mark with the ruler.
- Compare the measurement in millimeters with a ring size chart (you can easily find one online or ask us).
Example: a circumference of 54 mm corresponds to an Italian size 14.
💍 Method 2: Compare to a ring you already own If you already have a ring that fits your desired finger, you can use that as a guide.
How to do:
- Place it on a ruler or on a printout with ring guide circles (downloadable online).
- Measure the inside diameter in millimeters (not the outside!).
-
Compare the diameter with a conversion table to find the corresponding measurement.
For example, an internal diameter of 17.2 mm corresponds to an Italian size 14.
✨ Some helpful tips:
- Measure your finger at the end of the day, when it is slightly more swollen (avoid doing this if your hands are cold).
- If you're unsure between two sizes, choose the larger one, especially for wide rings.
- Every finger is different: don't use another finger's size thinking it's the same.
- For surprise gifts: Try taking the person's ring and using the inside diameter method!
