Gold is a precious metal with which beautiful jewels are made. It is not particularly delicate, but it still requires care and attention, including periodic cleaning, which avoids oxidation.
It is also true that for gold it is a phenomenon that does not it happens so easily, but the use, the contact with the air, with the humidity, with the skin and with the cosmetics we use can slightly cloud their natural beauty.
There are various ways to clean gold, which can be done at home in complete tranquility and with easily available products.
This first method is the simplest: just boil some water in a pot, remove it from the heat and immerse the gold jewels to be cleaned, which must be soaked until the water will not be cold. Then they dry gently.
This method is not suitable for jewelry with pearls, precious stones and coral.
Put some warm sparkling water and a little washing-up liquid in a bowl: soak the jewel for about twenty minutes and then brush it gently with a soft toothbrush. Then rinse it with lukewarm water and dry it with a soft cloth.
Always put a little bit of washing up liquid and baking soda in a basin of water. Immerse the jewel and soak it for 10 minutes; after which always brush with a soft toothbrush and dry with a cloth.
We recommend this method only rarely, for deeper cleaning, but we always recommend the utmost attention.
For this cleaning, you must mix 20 cl of ammonia in a liter of water; the jewel should be soaked in this solution for a maximum of one minute and immediately rinsed with running water and gently dried.
Warning: never use ammonia on gold jewelry with pearls and / or precious stones.
Even toothpaste can be used to clean gold. How? Mix a little water and toothpaste to create a fluid cream which you will sprinkle on the jewel; then scrub it with a soft-bristled toothbrush and rinse it with lukewarm water.
